Introduction to Finance & Accounting for Healthcare Institutions

Benefits and Added Value

This module is offered as a foundation for obtaining and using relevant and reliable information about the financial transactions of the institution and improving the decision-making process in Healthcare field. This module will enable the participants to understand and read the financial statements as an introduction to financial analysis for performance measurement and investment analysis purposes.

Structure

This program will be conducted over five sessions, five hours per session, i.e. 25 hours. It will cover the following topics and issues:

  • Reading & Constructing a Financial Statements
    • The Income Statements “Accrual vs. Cash Basis / Matching Principle” “Format & Classification”
    • The Balance Sheet “Format & Classification”
    • Cash Flow Statement “Direct vs. Indirect Methods” “Free Cash Flow”
  •  Financial Statements Analysis
    • “Ratio / Cross Sectional Analysis” (Liquidity / Activity / Leverage / Profitability / Market Analysis)
    • Trend / Time Series Analysis
    • Common Size Income Statement & Balance Sheet
    • Evaluating Financial Risk
    • Exercises & Cases


Target Participants

This program is targeting the potential professional and senior level executives in healthcare institutions, in order to engage them in a brainstorming experience about contemporary management applications in the field of healthcare.
