  Academic Qualifications for ACU Admission:

1 Accepted High School Certificates

The academic requirements for ACU Admission vary according the high school certificate obtained. Please be informed that any changes may occur according to the Registration Office for Private Universities, Ministry of Higher Education.

Egyptian Thanaweya Amma & Thanaweya Azhareya

  • Obtaining at least 79% to apply for the Pharmacy group and 60% for Management and Mass Communication.
  • Students applying for Computer Science & IT must be in the "Mathematical Thanaweya branch", with 65% at least.
  • Students applying for Pharmacy must be in the "biological science Thanaweya branch".
  • Students applying for Management or Mass Communication can be any Thanaweya branch.

- Canadian Diploma

  • Having at least 8 subjects studied at grade 12 among them are the qualifying subjects for the relevant faculty.
  • Maximum three subjects can be counted from grade 11, and five from grade 12, Biology – English – Chemistry – Physics – Mathematics.
  • Subjects counted should include the qualifying subjects relevant to the study group of choice at ACU.
  • For Faculty of Pharmacy, grade 12 Biology course is a must and the same course should be studied in grade 11.
  • For Computer Science & IT, grade 12 Math is a must and the same course should be studied in grade 11.
  • Other complementary subjects should be fulfilled. In all cases a maximum of three subjects from grade 11 is counted for admission.

- IGCSE and IGCSE

  • Having passed at least 8 O-levels or 7 O-levels + 1 (AL or ASL), different subjects.
  • In case the student studied only 7 O-levels + 1 (AL or ASL) the AL or ASL subject will lose its bonus as advanced subject and will be counted as OL subject.
  • Minimum O-Level-Grade is "C".
  • Minimum AL or ASL Grade is "E".
  • AL or ASL Math is required to join the Computer Science & IT.
  • Accepted number of sittings is 5 (taken during not more than 3 successive years).
  • IGCSE OL subjects obtained from Arab Countries should be of the extended, not of the core system.

- American Diploma

  • Having successfully completed 8 different subjects.
  • Accepted Students must have been studying at least the last 2 years (grade 11 and 12) in the American system. Students who studied all their courses in one year only (grade 12) in the American system will not be accepted.
  • Subjects less than one credit are not accepted.
  • Subjects calculated should include the qualifying subjects relevant to the study group of choice at ACU.
  • Subjects can be calculated from Grade 12, 11 or 10. Minimum number of subjects to be calculated from G12 is 4, minimum number of subjects from G11 is 2, and to be completed accordingly from G 10 if needed.
  • Subjects as PE, music, yearbook, religion, etc…are not counted.
  • Old SAT I is not accepted.
  • New SAT I minimum Score is 1200/2400
  • Students must also core a minimum of 50% in at least 2 parts of the new SAT 3 – part exam.
  • SAT II is not one of the minimum requirements but gives the students extra bonus in the evaluation (minimum accepted score is 800/1600.
  • Subject to be taken in SAT II:
    For Computer Science: Math is a necessity + other subject.
    For the Biological science group: Biology is a necessity +  
    other subjects.
    Languages as French are not accepted in SAT II.
- International Baccalaureate (IB)
  • Two of the required qualifying subjects should be taken at the High Level (HL) as indicated later.
  • Passing 6 subjects – minimum 3 of them to be taken in Higher Level.
  • Theory of knowledge, Extended Essay & Creativity are required.

- Thanaweya Amma from Arab Countries

  • A scientific-oriented Thanaweya Amma is required for studying in the Biological Sciences and in Computer Science Group.
  • A non-scientific oriented Thanaweya is eligible to study in the Management and Arts Group.
  • All Islamic subjects are not counted during the evaluation.
  • Students obtaining their Thanaweya Amma from Yemen must submit proof of 11 years of schooling.

- Abitur

  • Having acquired the qualifying subjects in Grades 11 and 12, according to the relevant study group at ACU.
  • For Abitur students graduated from Germany, subjects are taken from Grades 12 & 13 , and some subjects can be counted from Grade 11 (physics, chemistry & biology).
  • The number of subjects to be calculated is 7 (including the qualifying subjects).

2-2 Qualifying Subjects:
To state the eligibility of a student for a particular study group, there are certain qualifying subjects required.
Details are as follows (the list below shows the qualifying subjects only to be completed with supplementary subjects as required).

 

Regulations of the Egyptian Ministry of Higher Education

 All Students who have an Egyptian nationality holding Foreign High School Certificates and who did not take Thanaweya Amma Arabic Language and Religion exams during their high schools Must sit for and obtain a passing grade in the Thanaweya Amma Arabic Language and Religion exams before graduation from the University.
